These tools help us understand whether our advertising on Facebook and Instagram is effective and allow us to show more relevant advertising to people who may be interested in our products.

Meta Pixel

The Meta Pixel is a browser-based technology provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. If you consent to marketing cookies, the Pixel may collect information about how you use our website, including:

the pages and products you view;
products added to your basket;
whether you begin the checkout process or complete a purchase;
the date and time of your visit;
your browser, device and operating-system information;
your IP address and general location derived from it;
the website or advertisement that directed you to our website; and

This information helps us measure visits, purchases and other actions resulting from our Facebook and Instagram advertising.

Meta Conversions API

We also use the Meta Conversions API through our Wix website platform. This sends certain website and purchase events to Meta using a secure server-to-server connection. This may include information about product views, basket activity, checkout activity, completed purchases, transaction value and currency.

Where available and permitted, limited customer identifiers may be transmitted in a protected or hashed form to help Meta match an event with the appropriate Meta account. Hashing converts information into a coded value before transmission. We do not use the Conversions API to send payment-card details or the contents of private customer communications to Meta.

We configure these tools so that advertising-related information is collected and shared only in accordance with the marketing consent choices made through our cookie banner.

Advertising measurement

We use information collected through the Meta Pixel and Conversions API to:

measure the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertisements;
understand whether an advertisement resulted in a website visit, basket addition or purchase;
calculate advertising conversion rates and return on advertising expenditure;
improve the audiences, content and placement of our advertisements;
avoid repeatedly showing irrelevant advertisements; and
produce aggregated reports about the effectiveness of our marketing.

Reports available to us are generally aggregated. We do not receive a list identifying every individual who viewed or interacted with an advertisement.

Retargeting and custom audiences

If you consent to marketing cookies, Meta may use information about your visit to help us create custom or retargeting audiences. This may allow us to show Kristiansson Publishing advertisements on Facebook or Instagram to people who have visited our website, viewed a product, added a product to their basket or completed another relevant action.

We may also use this information to exclude recent purchasers from particular advertisements or to ask Meta to identify audiences with interests similar to those of our existing website visitors and customers. Meta performs the audience matching and does not provide us with the identities of individual Meta users included in these audiences.

Your consent and how to withdraw it

The Meta Pixel, Meta advertising cookies and associated advertising measurement are non-essential technologies. We will request your consent before activating them where consent is required. Refusing marketing cookies will not prevent you from browsing our website, purchasing a book or using the essential functions of our online shop.

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by selecting the Cookie Settings link or cookie-preferences icon available on this website and turning off the Marketing category. Withdrawal will prevent future Meta advertising tracking through our website in accordance with your revised choice, but it will not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

You may also delete existing cookies through your browser settings and adjust how Meta uses information for advertising through your Facebook or Instagram account settings. Blocking or deleting cookies may not remove information previously received and retained by Meta in accordance with its own policies.
